A fire occurred at Master ton this afternoon, and burnt down the premises of Messrs Heron and Craig, corn and chaff dealers. The loss is £500. There is an insurance in the National for £100. The cause of the fire is unknown.

At a cabinet council this morning it was decided 1j appoint William Conyers Coir_ issioner of Br.'lways for the Middle
Island, and to fcire him complete control of all the constructed railways in that Island.
