KURANUI HILL UNITED.
The following is a copy of the mine manager's usual weekly report:—" I have the honor, to inform you that during last week the tribute receipts, as per enclosed statement, reached £234 5s lid. There are still two small parcels at the battery not completed. None of our tributes are making large finds at present. 360 ft. level. —Sixteen feet have been driven on the vein near position of Junction shaft. ' In the end the ground is much harder, and the leader pinched and split up. The wages men are making good progress, and I think it inadvisable to let a contract until more regular country is found. 640 feet level.—The drive on No. 1 lode is now in 340 feet from the cross-cut. Nolan has about finished his contract and tenders are called for driving another 100 feet. The vein is somewhat smaller than usual, and for the last 15 feet has taken a more easterly direction. With that exception there is no change. Aubury's drive near the slide ia in 58 feet from the cross-cut. Last fortnight's progress is 37 feet. The ground is rather hard, but breaks speedily in regular faces. The rock is quite different to anything seen elsewhere at this depth. We have met no quartz veins as yet.—l have, etc., J. W. Walkee.
Newdick and party completed their crushing of 30 tons at the company's battery yesterday for the yield of 12ozs Idwt gold.
