The report that the Russians had entered the capital is utterly unfounded. Great excitement prerails there. In the House of Commons Sir Stafford Northcote partiaiiy confirmed the Russian occupation. into Committee of Supply upon the credit of six millions by 295 against 95. Mr Forster withdrew his amendment. A monster Conservative demonstration has been held. The mob smashed tho windows of Mr Gladstone's house and the office of the Daily News newspaper.
London, February 8. Sir Stafford Northcote stated in Parliament that the reason the Government had placed six millions on the supplementary war estimates was because tho Government were apprehensive of serious troubles at Constantinople in consequence of the terms of the armistice; and in anticipation ot" such, they had already sent a portion of the fleet there.
