Tt is expected that Sir George Grey will address ike Wellington electors on Thursday next.
The Hon. Mr Larnach is going homo Tery shortly in connection with floating the last; new loan. He takes his wife and family with him. It is reported that, after the loan negotiations are completed, he will succeed Sir Julim Vogel as Agent-
General.
The a.s. Wakatipu brought down nearly two hundred Chinamen, who arrived in Sydney from Hong Kong a fortnight ago. They are engaged to work on the Otago goldflelds by a speculative Chinaman, who is to allow them a percentage of the profits.
A supplement to a Government Gazette notifies that the Consolidated Stock Act comes into operation after the 9th of February.
His Excellency the Governor and Lady Normanby and suite leave for Auckland at 11 o'clock to-night in the Government steamer Hincmoa. It is expected that their stay will be to the beginning of April.
This day. The Hon. W. B. Ehodes, M.L.C., died last night, aged seventy.
Messrs Guthrie and Larriach have pur* chased a frontage in Grey street for one hundred pounds per foot.

Mr Bolton, the owner of Lara, has sold him, with all his engagements, to Mr Stevens of Wanganui for £450.
Twelve hundred extra salmon were liberated in the Hutt river yesterday.
Mr Marshall Wood leaves by the Wakatipu to-day en route for England.
A large number of Maoris hare assembled at Wairarapa to meet Sir Geo. Grey, who has promised to address them en political matters between now and Thursday.
A deputation of Wellington citizens waited on the Premier this morning with an address, signed by eight hundred Wellington citizens, requesting him to address them and state the intentions of Government next session at his earliest convenience. He promised to do so on Thursday evening next.
