We (Australasian Insurance and Banking Record) bare pleasure in directing attention to the annual balance-sheet (to 31st December, 1876) of the Imperial Fire Insurance Company. This important company's income last year was from fire premiums £553,456, and from interest on investments £48,939; together, £602,395. Its fire losses during the same period were £274,288, cost of management at home and abroad £167,903, differences on purchase &nd sale of investments and bad and doubtful debts, £1162. After paving £72,000 dividend, the balance carried to rest was £87,050. The liabilities are thus stated: Best (including balance carried down), £647,849 j capital stock, £700,000 j together, £1,347,849; unsettled losses, commission, &c, due to agents, bills payable, &0., amount to £171,158. The secured assets contist of firstclass securities, including British Government and railway obligations valued at £1,338,635 ; and, frith cash at bankers', agents', and branch balances, &c, amount to a grand total of £1,519,007. The Imperial, as is generally known, is erecting splendid premises in Col* lins street west. —[Advt.]
