AIYGEN IS LIFE. -Although the modern Materia Medina includes many valuable remedi' s for human afflictions, it is a matter of oertainty that in all cases where the animal vitality is failing, Pbospboruu is decidedly superior to every other romedy at present known. It will work effects such ac nothing eke will produce, and it possesses tbe great advantage of not causing, when its use i« relinquished, the slightest reaction or depression. The question naturally presents itself, "Why is so valuable an element «o little regarded and so seldom prescribed ?" The 1 only answer which can be given is :—That a certain difficulty has been found in so preparing it that its action m»y be kept under perfect control. Hitherto it has been used in almond and olive oils, in sulphuric ether, in rectified alcohol, in chloroform, and in several other substances ; but howerer valuable it hns been foubd in all the hitherto known methods of its preparation, certain irregular regults have been experienced, which have led physicians to neglect ifct or general purposes, and to emplot it only in extreme cases,«und after every other remedy haß failed. But a chemical process has now been discovered, by which its invaluable action on tbe human system may be realised without any of thoße drawback* which previous modes of administration have invariably produced, r Caution. -? phosphorus is sometimes sold in tbe iorni of Pills and Lozenges } it should be generally known that every form where SOLID PARTICLES of Phosphorus are in combination is dungerous. It is therefore necesßary that the public should be cautioned against tlio use of any preparation of Phosphorus not perfectly soluble in water. Protected htf Royal Letters Patent.
