WELCOME.
The mine manager reports that the crashing at the Waitekauri company's mill is shaping payably. Retorting will eventuate at the end of the present week. " > CITY OP MANCHESTEB. The appearance of this mine at the present time is so promising that there is every reason to believe that shortly it will attain the position of being one of the best of the mines held by small shareholders in this district. The shareholders are working oh the line of reef which has been worked on successfully by the share- . holders of the Moa claim, and it is said to be identical with one of the Una lodes, as its eastern continuation runs through that company's ground. The lode as worked in the City of Man* chesler ground is about two feet thick, and is composed of fine, brown, " kindly " looking stone, with good walls. Lately it has been split by a horse of mullock, with a sort of cross leader running across: It is this that has brought in the Rdld, and from whence the recef t good crushings were obtained. I have in previous reports referred to the tunnel being put in by the City of Adelaide shareholders. This tunnel is on the same level that Scott; and party are working on, and at present the latter are following them with a leading stope. In the drive the reef is worth 12dwts per ton, but as far as they have gone it has been found that in Stoping the lode is of greater value j than in the drive. The present block has good backs, and its length is 250 or 300 feet, so that there is plenty of dirt to take out. The road connecting the mine with the main road will be a great boon, both to this and other gold producing claims in the vicinity, which in gold duty will soon repay the outlay for roads. The road is about half completed now, QUEEN OF BEAUTY. The tributers are crushing with lU head of stampers at the company's mill, aud already the stuff is shaping for au ounce per load. The present parcel is taken from the shaft lode on the > No. 4 level, and the tributers hope to keep 10 head going for a month or two. They hive a good quantity of stuff now in the pad*
dock at the mine. There is nothing new in the company's workings. The crushing at the company's mill is shaping about the same as usual. The wutcrin the lowlevel chamber sKoks no signs of abatement. CITY OF ADKLAIDE. In v few feet the shareholders will be in their own ground, and will then be able to open out on the r<%ef— they hope with payable results. They have a crushing., iv process of treatment at the Coulabah battery just now. i
