The prospects of this mine show con* siderable improvement, as not only is there some gold showing in the No. 1 reef, .400-feet level, but also the Belfast lode has been cut in the Tookey ground, it having been worked up to the boundary by some of the Xuranui Hill tributeri. This lode shows gold freely, and. will, I think, pay well when worked on. The appearance of gold in the No. 1 reef, though in only a small quantity, is still very encouraging, as it is perhaps the first gold seen in this level. '
