MOANATAIRI.

As stated in a previous report, the yield of the stopes are by no means at good as formerly, which no doubt accounts for the falling off of the fortnightly yields lately. This, however, cannot be said of the eastern stopes between the slides, which continue to give good pros* pects, there being colors of gold, together wi<h copper indications, risible in the lode. At the 150 feet level the drive west on No. 9 reef shows that that lode bears a very promising appearance. It is four feet thick, with gold showing. The ore is payable. The rise on No. 1 reef to connect with the 80 feet level is now almost finished. The stopes on this lode are goingpoor stuff just now. The driving of the main tunnel is making much better progress lately, as the distance driven last week was 27 feet, which takes the face of the tunnel within the boundary of the recently purchased Red, White and Blue section. There is about SCO feet yet to drive to bring the tunnel up to the point in the Point Russell section where the winze is being stink to connect with the tunnel when extended in that direction. There are three or four months' work at any rate. The Point JRussell winze is bsing sunk on the reef, and is now down about a dozen feet. As it will be of considerable depth it will be made on a large scale. It is intended to be a permanent work. As far as can be seen* there is no alteration in the crushing.
