Paeboa, This day, 9 a.m.

The committee appointed at the lafe public meeting re purchase of the Goldfield held their first meeting on Saturday in the School-house, Pacroa. Mr C. F. Mitchell was appointed as permanent chairman, with power to convene meetings from time to time. The name of Mr Gr. S. O'Halloran was added to the general committee, and a letter of apology from Mr J. W. Thorp was read. The following gentlemen were elected as an executive committee, namely—Messrs C. F, Mitchell (chairman), J. H. Mahoney, J. M. .Kobson, J. M. Coote, D. Snodgrass, E. M. Corbett, and A. Porter, three to form a quorum, the hon. secretary to be a member ex officio. It was resolved that a first levy of half-a-crown a head should be made payable by all persons interested in the district, for the purpose of defray ing,the expenses necessary to be incurred in carrying out the movement, and Mr J. 11. Mahoney was appointed hon. treasurer. Messrs F. Lipsey, G. S. O'Halloran, C. F. Mitchell and A. Porter were elected as a sub-committee to \ select a suitable site for a cemetery, and to report to the executive committee. Messrs Mitchell, Kobson, Maboney, Lipsey, Snodgrasß, and Porte* were I appointed as a deputation to interview Tukukino re the main road to the Thames, and the hon. secretary was requested to write a letter to him notifying the intention of these gentlemen to visit him at 10 o'clock this morning. Mr G. S O'Halloran undertook to deliver the letter. The executive committee were instructed to represent to the Hon. the Native Minister the desirability of holding in the Obinemuri district the next Native Land Court for hearing claims to land within this district. Messrs J. M. Kobson, 0. P. Mitchell, A. Porter, and J. W. Thorp were appointed as deputies to proceed to Auckland, if necessary, to wait upon the members of the Ministry re the wants of the district.
