The day, which was bed for sailing vessels, was the very thing for rowing races The three crews made an excellent start, but in smooth water it was soon evident that the Mercury Bay boys and their boat were too much for their opponents. They gradually drew away, and without being asked to row, won at the finish by 5 lengths, 1 hames second, North Shore three lengths behind. The Foue-oahed Gia Bace was a walk over for the Auckland Bowing Club. It is expected the big sailing races will not be finished in time to make a race.
A thousand children assembled in the Domain, and got drenched.
