Anniversary Day.

To-day, tlm 37th Anniversary of the Colony, the annual fote of the Sunday schools was Io have been lie.'d—• and in a manner was held—though the ursettled slate of the weather sadly marred the enjoyment of the young folk. At about 10 o'clock the scholars attending the St. George's Sunday School, marshalled by (heir teachers, and all snug under canvaii, i.e., umbrellas, etc., were to bo seen marching from their school-house (o the Grahamstewn terminus of the Grahamstown and Tararu Tramway, in the cars of "which they were conveyed to the Tarpru Gardens, and made themselves as happy as possible between the showers. Games at kiss-in-the-ring, rounders, etc., were varied occasionally by a rush to the booths when the prevailing "Scotch mist" took the form of a well organised shower. After some delay, and, doubtless, some misgiving on the pert of tho teachers, the children attending the Congregational, Methodist and Presbyterian schools, marched to Parawai, where the slight clearing up in the afternoon permitted them :<;o. indulge in the orthodox games of such occasions. The Grahamstown Wesleyan School teachers decided that their little charges should remain at tho school house where they seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely. A number of the little boys amused themselves with a game of cricket, while the scholars of the weaker sex " improved their shining hours" on the swings which, several of the teachers had kindly hed removed from the gardens for their benefit. The Shortland Wesleyan and Baptist schools also remained in town, the former going to the Volunteer Hall and the latter to the Kauaeranga Girls' School.
