/"I ENTLEMEN" ELECTORS,—I am a CANDIDATE for RE-ELECTION to j a Seat at tho Board. Should you do mo the j honour to return mo n» ouo of your Representatives, I shall advocate the formation of a Harbour, central and convenient to the I general public, that would be approachable by vessels trading to the port at all times and tides. As it requires money to accomplish this object, I ehould be in favour of miking persistent application to the General Government, both for money and endowments, to enable the Board to carry out this muchneeded accommodation for the Fort; and when we remember that placei such a Timaru, Oamaru, &c, ore in possession Of large and valuablo Endowments, and spending thousands of pounds in improving their harbours, surely the Port of Thames ought to j placed on as good s> footing as thoie towns which contain, perhaps, about half the population we havo on the Thames. In coming before the Electors again I would simply state that I have no private end* to serve by seeking re-election, other than the general good of the Fort and District of Thames; and, should the Electors be pleased to Return me, I will esteem it nn honour, and do my best to ferve them. Gentlemen, I am, yours obediently, 1951 JAMES M. MENNII. THAMES HARBOUR BOARD ELECTION. TO THE ELECTOBS. ri. ENTLEMEN—Your Volts and Interest are respectfully solioited. WM. DAVEES.
