The Salmon ova has all been deposited in the various rivers with a very small percentage of loss.
Mr Firth, of Auckland, has a letter in to-day's Argus, from which it appears that Sir Samuel Wilson is not entitled to so much credit iv the matter as the public are disposed to give him. There have been some very large sales of stock during the last few days. At the one of Robertson's, at Colac, the large sum of £25,000 was realised. The highest price paid for a colonial bred bull was two thousand four hundred and fifty guineas. The entries for the Australian Cup have closed with twenty-seven Bnd fortyfour for the Newmarket Handicap. The revenue returns just published show an increase of eighteen thousand ou the last quarter.
