The following is a correct list of the properties destroyed at the Newton fire: —Kising Sun Hotel, three dwelling houses, Streetcr's pork butchery, McAlpine, shoemaker's, Strongfellow's toy shop. The following were seriously damaged:—Newton Hotel, Coulbourne'e dwelling house, Greatham's store ; damage, six hundred pounds. Hoy's post office and Btore, Johnstone's bakery and store, Alexander's fruitcry and bakery, Proude's, tailor, Prime's grocery ; damage, seven hundred pounds. Crawford, cbnmist, Kemble's bakery, Waddell's bakery, Mclndoe's greengrocery.
The Salvage corps in a break this morning returning from the fire were upset, and a man named Godwin was thrown on his bead and seriously injured. He was removed to the Hospital. It is since rumored that he is dead.
In Meyers' case the Jury, after being locked up all night, failed to agree. The case is to be tried again in one week. Another charge is now proceeding.
