AXTGB.K IS LIFE. Although tho modern Materia Medina includeß many valuable remedies for human offlictioiis, it is n matter of certainty that in all caees where the animol vitality is failing, Phosphorus ia decidedly superior to every other remedy hfc present known. It will work effects such.as nothing else will-produce, and it possesses the great advantage of not causing, when its use is relinquished, the slightest reaction or depression. The question naturally presents itself, "Why is so valuable an element so little regarded and so seWom prescribed.?" The only answer which can be given is :—That » ; certain diflicultybas been found in so preparing it that its action may be kept under perfect control. Hitherto it has been ueed in almond and olive oils, in sulphuric ether, in rectified alcohol, in chloroform, and in several other substances j but; howerer valuable it hns been found in all the hitherto known methods of its preparation, certain irregular results have been experienced, which have led' physicians to neglect it for general purposes, and to employ it only in extreme cases, and after every otherremedy has failed. But a chemical process has now been discovered, by which its invaluable action on the human system may be realised without any of those drawback* which previous modes o£ administration have invariably produced. i^*" Caution. — PHOSPHORUS is sometimes sold in the form of Pills and Lozenpes j it should bo generally known that ev.;ry form whero SOLID PARTICLES of Phosphorus are in combination is dangerous. It is therefore necessary that the public should bo cautioned against the uee of any preparation of Phosphorus not perfectly soluble in water. , :
