MOANATAIRI.
To-day this mine was visited by me. On going to the end of the tunnel I found the rock drill in full swing again, and it is working well. Good progress is being made, as during last week the extension has been 18 feet for five days work. The face of the tunnel is dry and hard, and though there are some quartz stringers risible in face, there is nothing to indicate the Approach of any large body of quartz. The tunnel has' been centred and raili laid right up to the face. On 'going down to the 150-feet level I found that there was a good deal of water on the flat sheet, and
it is necessary to bale with one cage to keep it under. The No. 9 reef in west drive is being both sloped and driven o", and is giving payable stuff. Wallis*. Heidi's and the Cross-leader also contiuue to giro their quota of payable stone. In the 80-feet level, which I also visited, I found nothing particular to notice. The alterations to the main shaft make its working much more efficient. The battery is kept going with stone from nil parts of the mine, and is shaping about the average. Several tribute parties will be crushing within the next few days.
