Thames Scottish Prize Firing.

The" Thames Scottish Volunteers fired for the company's belt on Saturday in two squads at the Moari range ; distances, 200, 400, and 560 yards; five shots each. The wind was very unsteady, sometimes two and three feet off the target at 500 yards, then suddenly coming into edge of bull's eye ; particularly was this the case in the afternoon. As will be seen from the following scores the average shooting was very good. The top score was made by Volunteer George Price, who holds the belt now for three months. He made an excellent score of 52 points. On several previous occasions Price has shown up well, and looked like a dangerous opponent, having the peculiar knack of sticking to the bull's eye when once fairly on-to it. The last holder of the belt (Clark), who won it twice in succession, shot well again on Saturday, and but for an unfortunate accident, causing a miss he would have made the. contest extremely doubtful until the last shot had gone. Kendall, the present holder of the district belt, was only two points behind as well as Schofield, whom we are glad to see again to the fore. The match on Saturday, as well as another next Saturday, will decide the team to fire against the Auckland company. The following are the scores on Saturday of men making 40 points and over :—
