GREYMOUTH.
Friday. The great Hochstetter water race was formally opened by the Grey County Chairman yesterday, in the presence of his Honor Judge Weston, the member for the Grey Valley, and a large concourse. A banquet and ball took place in the evening. ■ The race is a magnificent work, 10} miles in length, and carries about seventy head of water. It has cost about one hundred thousand pounds. Great expectations of its utility are formed, and all the water has already been applied for.
