This day.

At a meeting of the Lyttelton Harbor Board, Mr Cunningham proposed a resolution appointing a committee to report on the defences of Lyttelton harbor, and said the Government neglected their duty in not having Sir Wm. Jervois to report on the defences of the colony. Mr Turner argued that the defences of the. harbor did not come within the scope of the board. Ultimately it was resolred to adjourn the matter for the chairman to obtain a legal opinion on it.
