The battery has been stopped for a week to givo tho hands a holiday, and in the meantime it is undergoing such repairs as arc needed. It will resume operations on Monday next. The Caledonian has a considerable tonnage lying in tho paddocks, part of which was crushed before the battery stopped. It was shaping poorly—at tho rate of half an ounce per ton. It showed a slight improvement just before tho battery stopped.
