General Notices "STAMP ACT, 1875." TRANSFERS OF SHARES. IT is hereby notified, that, after the let o January 1876, the use of Impressed Stamp* upon Transfers of Shares is compulsory but transfers of shares may be stamped at a Stamp Office by the Commissioner or a Deputy Commissioner within one month after exec/ t;on without a fiae. , ' ■ Managers ond Secretaries of Companies Sharebrokers, and o 1 hers interested, are recommended to forward, without delay, such forms of transfer as they may require to be impressed, accompanied by the usual requisi- ' iiou and receipt from the Bank of New Zealand for amount thereof, less the authorized discount. . .'.;•"- Information may be obtained at any Stamp Office. . ■ .- The provisions of the Act; relating hereto are as follow :— " 47. (1.) Except where express provision is ma !e to the contrary, all duties are to be denoted by impressed stamps only." " IC2. No transfer of any share or shares - of or in the stock or funds of any coiporation company, or society whatever in New Zealand sha 1 be registered, recorded, or ent««*-in the books of such corporation, company or society, unless such transfer is duly stamped. 103. No instrument of sale or transfer ot any share or shares shall be valid, either at law or m equity, unless the name of the purchaser or transferee is inse/tcd therein at the time of or before the execution of the instrument of sale or transfer j and, if any pereon executes a sale*note, transfer, contract-note, or other instrument of sale or transfer, in any manner, or for any purpose whatsoever, ium lees the n&me of the purchaser is ioserted ! therein at the tifnc or before the execution thereof, he shall forfeit a sum of not less th»n £20 or more thun £100; and, if any such instrument is B0 made or iigned, it shall be wholly and absolutely void and inoperative. and shall in no case be made available by the insertion of a name or any other particular* afterwards ; and the person selling or trans, fernng such share shall not be divested of his interest therein, but shall remain liable thereon as if he had never Bold or disposed ot the same. And if such person is a licensed sharebroker, his license shall, on any conviction under Ihis section, bo absolutely forfeited, and ho shall not thereafter be qualified to act aB a broker, or to have a fresh lioenM issued to him. REGISTRATION OF ABBREVIATED XX ADDRESSES. — With the view of saving as much as possible the cost of the " transmission of Telegrams to New Zealand from other countries, a register will be kept - at every Telegraph Station in New Zealand for the Registration of Arbitrary or Cypher Addresses in the shape of one or more words. .No fee will be charged for registration. Persons registering will require to communicate the Cypher or Arbitrary Address to their Correspondents.
