MINE MANAGEMENT.
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.)
Sir, —Oa visiting the Alburnia yesterday I was surprised to find the number of men lounging aboat, and presumed that it was on account of the mine being overmanned, and was surprised to find they were waiting for their tools to be sharpened (a rather unusual thing in a well managed mine). The man ala-r in-. formed me that owing to the scarcity of gads ard other mining requisites, it was rio unusual thing to find half the shift wait-ing-till the oiher half had finished with the drills. If the company cannot afford to find enough tools for the«few men they employ they had better reduce the dividends, for if the present system of management continues they will soon hare to make a call, which, might suit the present management aad directors, but will Hot suit—Yours, truly, r
Shabeholdeb.
