CITY OF LONDON.

The manager informs me that the sinking contractors are making fair progress through moderately good country, and the present depth of the shaft is 16 feet, which is nearly one-quarter the distance required for extending the new level. The winze going down on the No. 1 reef, near the Queen of Beauty boundary, is down about 10 feet. When this work is completed it will afford facilities both for drainage and stoping. As the City lower level is about 30 feet above the Queen of Beauty lower level it will not take long to have these two works connected by the winze.
