From present appearances it is thought two distinct reefs exist, and will junction with one another at a litUe depth under where the Perseverance men are at work. Good prospects are also obtainable from this lode, the stone being thickly impregnated with base metals and small Mac veins, the latter being a sure indication of golden stone.

Young New Zealand.—Since operations were started with low level goo.l progress has been made considering the hard channel of country through wl ich •it is .going.. A few feet more should see the soft country on the other side of the bard bar, when the No. 1 lode will soon be to hand.
