It is understood that considerable reductions will be made in the staff of tbe Goldfields Depariment at the Thames, but that there is no truth in the report that the- management of the goldflelds is to be transferred to ihe County Council.

The colony is to pay Mr Kichener fire hundred pounds and Mr Slowman three thousand pounds, exclusive of passage money for FitzKeiuer immigrants, in lull of all demands/.
