WAITEKAURI.

The following report has been received from the mine manager:—Waitekauri Mine, June 11th, 1877. —Directors of the ' Waitekauri Goldmining and Quartz Crushing Company.—Gentlemen,—l /beg to forward the following weekly report: —On the lower level the drive to the south of No. 2 winze is in a distance of 102 feet. !\I am taking five feet of the reef. The stone is looking much better than it did last week. The drive to the north is in 40 feet. I am breaking down 12 feet of the reef, which is showing firstrate golden stone. On the 160 feet level the drive to the sou*h of the winze is in 76 feet; the reef is six feet in width. The drive to the north is in 104 feet; the reef is 10 feet in width, showing good golden stone. I have been filling in the stopes both north and south of the winze last week,' so that I have not been able-to break much stone from them. I have been keeping the battery fully employed from the faces of the drives, but. the stone has not been turning out ao well as it did last month, on account of my not being able to keep it so clear of mullock as I can when sloping. I would strongly recommend your putting in another level from the Queen's boundary.: There is a drive in 90 feet to your boundary which has cut the reef, and by continuing tliat drive it would give you 90 feet of backs between that and your present lower level—l remain, gentlemen, yours obediently Chas. H. Wilson, mine manager.
