General Notices " STAMP ACT, 1875." TRANSFERS OF SHABES. IT is hereby notified, that, after the Ist o January 1876, the use of Impressed Stamps upon Trarefers of Shares is compulsory, but transfers of eharoa may be stamped at a Stamp Office by the Commissioner or a Deputy Commissioner within one month after execu t;on without a fine, ' Managers and Secretaries of Companies Sharebrokers, and o 1 hers interested, are recommended to f..rward, without delay, such forms of transfer as they may require to be impressed, accompanied by tho usual rcquisilion and receipt from the Bank of New Zea* :■? land for amount thereof, less the authorized discount. Information may be obtained at any Steam Office. * The provisions of the Act relating hereto are as follow v :— " 47.. (1.) Except where express provision is ma:le to the contrary, all duties are to be denoted by impressed stamps only." " 102. No transfer of any share or shares of or in the stock or funds of any corporation, company, or society whatever in New Zealand shall be registered, recorded, or entered in the books of such corporation, company, or society, unless such transfer is duly stamped. "103. No instrument of sale or transfer of any share or shares shall be valid, either law or in equity, unless the name of the purchaser or transferee is inserted therein at the time of or before the execution of the instrument of oale or transfer ; and, if any person executes a sale-note, transfer, contract-note, or other instrument of sale or transfer, in any manner, or for any purpose whatsoever, an* less the name of the purchaser is inserted therein at the time or before the execution thereof, he shall forfeit a sum of not less th«n £20 or more than £100; and, if any such instrument is co made or signed, it shall b« wholly and absolutely void and inoperative, and shall m do case be made available by the insertion of a name or any other particulars afterwards ; and the person selling or trans-! ferring such share shall not be divested of hit interest therein, but shall remain liable thereon as if he had never sold or disposed oi the same. And if such person is a licensed eharebroker, his license shall, on any conviction under**his section, be absolutely forfeited, and he shall not thereafter be qualified to act us a broker, or to have a fresh license issued to him. ' ' " 104. No sharebrokcr, auctioneer, commission agent, or any other person shall be entitled to any brokerage, commission, or any other fee or reward in respect of the sale or transfer of any such share, unless the inetrumeßt of sale or transfer is filled up witk all necessary particulars to make it ft com* plete instrument, and is duly stamped.
