PIGEONGRAMS.

OHINEMTJRI.

(FBOM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)

Waitekauki, This day, 10.30 am

Waitekauki G.M.Co.—In this company's mine a deal of progressive work is being done this mouth, the main drives at both levels being pushed ahead in both directions. At the low level a cross-cut is being put in across the reef just under the No. 2 winze. The reef looks well in all portions of the mine. In the stopes, at IGO feet level, the reef looks aa well as ever, but there hasn't been a large amount of stone broken from here for the last few days, as the manager is busily engaged timbering and filling up the ground already taken out. A contract has also been let for extending the old top level of the Queen Company, which is already up to the boundary, and which will give 70 feet more backs than the present low level of the Waitekauri Company. The full force of the battery is constantly employed reducing fair average ore.

Shannon and Febgujs G.M. Co.—During the last day or two the country in No. 2 drive has improved considerably, a nice brown sandstone coming in in place of the hard blue country which has been gone through for the last 20 feet. The leader | is looking well, and now that the country has improved so much it is very probable it will do the same. Bank of England G.M. Co.—The contractors are making fair progress with the low level—the ground being a bit harder this week, and plenty of water making out of the face. What is supposed to be the cap of a new reef was discovered in the company's ground the day before yesterday, but the weather has been so bad since that no work has yet been done to prove the value or extent of the find, but as there is some splendid looking stone uncovered I hope to have some good news for the shareholders in the course of a week or two. Work is being vigorously pushed forward by the different contractors in the Queen, Auckland, Leahy and Herald com* panics' ground.
