KURANUI HILL UNITED.
The two lodes cut in the north crosscut from the Pumping Association shaft are evidently improving as the drives on their courses are being extended. This morning the manager reports there is a marked improvement perceptible in the No. 2 lode, which, it will be remembered, was about a week ago described as being mullock y', as it now shows about one foot thick of solid quartz with mineral showing. There is not much change in the No. 1 lode, which continues to keep up the name it acquired when cut, that is, "a good solid looking body of stone." At the company's battery the manager is still compelled to keep crushing the three shifts, and even now there are parties waiting to crush. It is probable that the starting of the Herald and Prince Alfred batteries will do something towards lessening the number of mines wanting to crush. At present amongst others there are crushing Gilpin's company's tribute, Lander's Golden Age tribute, Girvan's Golden Grown tribute," and Catran's Company's tribute. Dunlop and party finished their crushins; at the company's mill to-day for the return of 25ozs 2dwts gold.
