Tuesday.
There has been a remarkably heavy downpour of rain for the last twenty-four hours. The Teremakati is flooded with surface water. Heavy floods are reported throughout the district. The outward Christchurch mail could not proceed this morning, and returned to Hokitika. There is no mail to- or from Greymouth
to-day. It is still raining
