On bit that a weekly newspaper is about to be started at Paeroa, to be called The Ohinemuri Chronicle.

The Thames Amateur Variety Troupe will gire a grand entertainment at the Academy of Music this evening, consisting of horizontal bar and/trapeze per-; formances, singing, dancing and negro business, and introducing a lady amateur gymnast for the first time in a double trapeze act.. The young mon composing this troupe have appeared before Thames audiences on several occasions. Their gymnastic displays are very clever, and the trapeze business of the Anderson Brothers would compare favorably with ; professional talent, aud now that they are introducing a young lady in this daring act their performance will prove more attractive. There should be a good house. The programme will be a lengthy one. There was a great disturbance in New South Wales House of Parliament recently. Mr McElhone retorting on a remark made by Mr-Dibbs said, " at all events, he (Mr McElhone) never forged his name to a ship's register." Mr Dibbs immediately relied, "If the hon. member says that of me he is a liar; and if he says it outside this House I will wring his nose for him."
