OHINEMT7BI. (PBOM OTTB OWH COEBEBP«an»BKT.> WAiTESAtJEi, This day, 11 a.m. Waitekattbi G.M.Co.—Some really splendid stone baa been broken out during the last couple of days in the driTes going north at both levels. At the low level the reef is of immense size, being something like 30 feet across from drive to winze, and it is nearly all payable, while portions are exceedingly rich. At the 160 feet level the drive going north is within SO feet of line of No. 1 winze, and gold shows freely in the reef at the face of the drive. In the stopes the reef also looks well, and large quantities of stone are coming to grass. Peesevebance G.M. Co.~A splendid looking leader, 18 inches thick, baa been cut in this company's ground close to the boundary of the Republic, and there is no doubt but it is a continuation of the latter company's reef; first class prospects are obtainable, and the manager intends starting a drive from the Republic's ground, and will intersect the lode at a depth of 30ft, in about 60ft of driving.

It's about time the Mining Inspector woke up some of the claimholders in this district, for instance the Republic, in which there is known to be a good payable lode, but shareholders seem to be quite content to look on while other people prospect the ground for them, and if anything good is found reap the benefit there* of, while if nothing i* discqvered.they are at no loss.

Queek Gr.M.Co.—Tbe contractors are making good progress with low level, and some splendid looking stone has been broken out of the footwall portion of the reef, which is exactly similar to that coining tohand from the Waitekauri low level, and ought to carry as good gold.

Auckland G.M.Co.—A contract was

let this morning to Mr Dixon for 200 feet of driving through this company's ground at 15s 9d per foot, work to be started on Monday morning.

Bank of England G.M.Co.—A small mullocky leader has been carried for some distance along the low level, and as the country is improving ; a stronger body of stone may be looked for in a few feet more driving.

Shannon and Fjsegus G.M.Co.—:The drive on No. 2 lode is meeting with better country, and the lode is improving in size and quality. ./■■
