MOANATAIRI.

A breaking down in the face of the drive from the foot of the winze took; place this morning, which had the effect

of bringing to grass about one and a-hulf

hundredweight: 'of-specimens, some of were, really very-good. v Tbere is * also a good show of gold-in the face. Today it has been discovered fhat another of those'perplejring clay seams is pojbing into the drive. This one is to be.seeh in the floor ;of the drive dipping In a! westerly direction; As yet very -little is! * known of the antecedents of this clay hand, and it-will take: a day or two toprove its identity. It 'may turn out to be the clay ! seam which, it', will be rememberer!, was intersected; while on- the. fun of :■ gold in the 80 feet level, arid-i £4 may also; turn out to-have a connection with the; main slide. The other parts of the mine continue to look well. The following is a copy of the-telegram sent to Xuckland this morning.by the manager :—Mlsolbs: specimens from drire. new winze. Good ; show of gold in face. A clay band coming in flooriof driv.e and dipping westi. A; few shifts' worki will prove >if this ?has^ any connection with main, slide.—Eobt. i Comeb." The r follbwing is the manager's weekly report submitted at the meeting held yes- - terday. morning : —" Moanatairi Gr,Mr-Qo. . To the directors. - Gentlemen,—l have the honour to report as' under:—-Eighty feet ".level, south east cross-cllt.~The arive'from the bottom of the new : winze is extended 9 feet, and I estimate the quantity of gold broken in driving at 1500 ounces. There isgold now showing in - the face and roof, ahd also going down in the floor. I believe it is a continuation of

the shot of.gold extending down from the 80 feet level. Driving will be suspended to-day to put in some timber in the top part of the winze, the rock not being safe for the men to work under. In the 80 feet level west, JMo. 9 reef is much improved, being now 2h ieot thick of good looking stone, and the fcotwall part, carries good, gold-bearing runndic. The scopes in the back of this level are without change to mention. VValli-j's leader •is looking very well, and patches of picked . stone are occasionally met with, JS.W. cross-cut: The winze sinking on the All Nation's leader is now down 35 feet; the reef is 1| feet thick, and will average an oz per toa. The engine shaft is down 78 feet, eight feet being required fora well. The new level will be opened out 70 feet below floor of 80 feet level. Ladders and permanent guides will now be fixed in the shaft, and on Tuesday we shall start cutting out a chamber; ! The general crushing is showing up very will. Ingerspll reck drill and eight-inch cylinder engine have arrived : safe. —Eobeht Comjee, Manager." • : -; -■•■_■■■ ■■;■■; : TJMBUIE PAKTIES. Johns and -party, the company's tribu-j ters, completed a crushing at the Kuranui mill yesterday for the return'of 35ozs lldwts golr\ The amount of stuff crushed was 35 tons, and it was crushed at the Euranui battery because the facilities for getting it down there are better than those for getting it to the company's mill.
