A diabolical rape was committed at Howick. A blacksmith named David King, who was drinking with two brothers named MacKen,zie, on Wednesday last, went to the house of a woman named Garrett, seventy years old, who washes for King. The latter forced her on to a sofa and committed a rape. The other two followed. King has been arrested. Detective Jeffries has gone after the others.
There is a great run on Tokateas They rose Is 6d and sold at 10s. Moana> tairis sold at £12 to £12 lQg. The markel generally is dull.
