RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Wm. Rogers (a lad) was charged with breach of section 64, part 10 of By-law No. 1, Borough of Thames by unlawfully leaving his cart unattended in Richmond street, Thames, and without fastening the wheel thereof with a chain, so as to prevent its rotation, on the 26th ult. Defendant pleaded guilty. Mr Kollerson raid the lad Bogers was in his employ, and he had always found him particularly careful about securing his his cart. He thought the action of the police unwarranted, as the boy had only been a few yards from the cart. .
The Bench said they would hear the evidence. ;
Constable Stapletoj, sworn, deposed-— I saw defendant's cart in Richmond street. It was in the middle of the road. He was quite 20 yards away from the cart. I spoke to him, and he said it was the first time he had allowed such a thing to occur.
Mr Rollerson protested that the boy was not haif 20 yards from the cart.
Fined 2s 6d and costs
This was all the business.
