MOANATAIRI.

Part of the reef left standing after yes« terday's breaking down was broken dowu in the drive from the winze this morning, and the result was 4cwt of first-class specimens. Some of these specimens are calculated to arerage about six ounces to the pound, and one of the pieces

weighing about six pounds appeared nearly solid. The show on the floor and roof is first-class, but perhaps the best of the gold is to be seen about half-way up the drive. There now does not appear to be the slightest doubt that this is the continuation of the old run, and even if it does not go down to the new level there will be a large amount of splendid stuff to take. out between the drive from the winze and the floor of the 80 feet ley el. There is nothing fresh to report from any other part of the mine. The-following is a copy of the telegram sent by the manager to the office at Auckland to-day:—"4ewt specimens from drive from new winze. Splendid gold three feet high from floor, also good, show of gold in the reef.—Robt. Comeb." George and party finished their crushing at the company's mill yesterday afternoon, for the return of 21ozs 18dwts of gold. For this return they treated 20 tons of general stuff.
