QUEEN OF THE MAY.
Yesterday the portion of the foot-wall lode stripped in the bottom level was broken down, and some 3Olbs of fine specimens were selected from the fallen stuff. The" show in the face is good, aud gives promise that something good will be obtained next breaking down. The hanging-wall reef was also broken down, and the result; was about 20 pounds of" choice stones, thus making the total result of the day's haul half a
hundred weight. The reef in the stopes is looUng well, and shows gold. In the cross cut from the bottom level the work of driving on the small stringer referred to some days ago has been discontinued, and the driving of the cross-cut is being proceeded with. Tenders for the sinking of the shaft will be called for sometime this week. At the battery the crushing is looking well, and judging from present appearances the return of next Saturday's retorting will be a fair one.
