MOANATAIRI.
I visited the mine at about midday today, and on descending the shaft by the ladder (the cages were not working, as the ropes were baing repaired and inspected) and going to the new winze found that no reef had been broken down since Friday, when I last visited the mine. There is, Eerhaps, 4or 5 feet stripped. No quartz ad been taken out of the side of the lode and it is impossible to tell how it looked. There is evidently a good deal of mullock in the reef,' but whether there is s genuine horse or not the next breaking down will prove, and at present it is only a matter of conjecture. There is nothing particular to report from the stopes, and work is proceeding with all speed. Heldt's reef continues to look well, and the drive on the cross-leader towards it is going, ahead. In the other parts work' is proceeding as usual. The gold resulting from Saturday's retorting was melted at the Bank of New Zealand today and reduced to 5790zs 7dwts melted gold. -
