Waitjekaubi, Noon, This day.
Waitekattbi G.M.00.-—The manager reports the mine to He looking well; plenty of first-class stone coming to hand from the stopes at 160 feet level. There is an improvement visible in low- level going south, where the reef is of a large size, and carrying good gold. At the battery things are, looking healthy.
Queen G.M.Co. — The contractors made a start at low level this morning; a start should have been made last week, but'a difficulty was experienced in getting timber for rails.
Bank of England. G.M.C^^Harrington and party,' contractors^ravnew low level, made a fair start last week, and are now in about 8 feet with the drive in nice sandstone country. Having built a smithy and secured rails there should be no lost time for the future, and from the appearance of the ground there is no doubt something good will' be found be* fore many weeks. '- '- '.!L . :".:. Shannon and Fbbgits Gr.M.Co.—Some nice gold-bearing 3tone came to hand this morning from the No. 2 leader, the drive upon which is in about 10ft in pretty hard country. The leader is rattier^ small at present, but if the ground gets "a bit softer there is every probability of the lode increasing in size and richness. / Welcohe G.M.Co.—The drive going south is being continued upon No. 4 lode, I which is a fine body of stone 18in thick. j The drive upon No. 2 cross-lode ii also being pushed ahead so as to connect with the wiDze already sunk."' T
