WELLINGTON.

Saturday.

Captain Dalton, of the schooner Ruby, stated that as he came up from BLaikoura yesterday the sea was perfectly smooth in Cook's Straits, but every fifteen or twenty minutes an enormous " blind ware" came up "as big as a dozen waves rolled into one," but without any " face " or break. These gigantic " swells " came up from about S.S.E. The s.s. Tui, while at anchor, experienced the force of the ware, and carried away all three of her warps.

This day.

The Court of Appeal opened this morning, but adjourned till the following day without transacting any business. There are only two cases on the list, and three cases in the Divorce Court.

It is understood that Ingwersen, deputy keeper of the Mount View Lunatic Asylum, has levanted, leaving a large number of creditors. Dr Skae has taken charge of the Asylum in the meantime. Ingwersen went away to Canterbury on leave of absence.

A mounted constable sent to Fallisser Bay to search along the coast for wreck, reports that he saw no traces of recent wreck. The remains of what he did see were evidently of a vessel wrecked over a month ago. He found pieces corresponding with those found by Merson. They were all of kauri timber. Muntz metal and nails were also found, and the sliding cover of a companion hatch painted white, 3| feet long by 3 feet wide.
