PRINCE ALFRED BATTERY.

Mr Black, the manager of the Pumping Association, has designed a turbine for working this battery by the new Government supply, and the turbine is now in course of construction at Messrs Price Bros', foundry. Workmen are employed at the battery removing the old steam engine, and preparing .for placing the turbine, which yrill be ready shortly. When this alteration is effected the great boon of cheap crushing will be extended to the mines in the vicinity, some oi: which have been given up because of the expensive nature of crushing by steam, power.
