The ,porlion of the reef in the winze which wa<3 stripped was broken down today, the result being some 18 or 20cwt of stone. There was a large quantity of mineral, while some gold was showing. The breaking duwa has disclosed something which cannot be taken as a good sign, the something being that the lode is split by a " hcrse " of mullock at the east end of the winze The crushing of the stuff* broken down yesterday is proceeding with the single stamper. ■ Howe .and party have for the last few weeks' been accumulating a parcel of crushing-dirt amounting to 58 tons. This parcel had been crushed at the company's battery, and was completed to day for the handsome return of 84 ounces of retorted gold. Several weeks ago this, party obtained 36ozs Bdwis from a parcel of picked stone which was obtained while accumulating the parcel of general dirt, the ciushing of which was finished to-day, so that it really belongs to the same parcel, and makes the total yield of the parcel 120czs Bdwts gold.
