The Mayor of O.amaru (acting in conjunction with the Mayor of JSfasebyj has called a public meeting of the residents of the district, to be held on Wednesday evening next, to take steps to promote the construction of a line of railway from Oamaru to Taybnrn. The project is in great favour with the residents of the
district. If carried out the line will open up the whole interior of JSTorth Otago. Some of the large landowners say they are prepared to give the land through which the line will pass, and there are no engineering difficulties. ; "
