Winter has fairly set in. It is bitterly cold, squalls and heavy rain yesterday and to-day. The surveyors have been driven in from Ngaruroro and Mohaka on account of the snow. The rivers are flooded.
European speculators are here negotiating for Native run's at Tuhua and west of Tongariro. . • •,;
