An unseemly disturbance took place in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church yesterday, at the eleven o'clock service. It seems that a majority of the congregation wish for the introduction of the Lnglish Presbyterian Hymn-book, but there are some dissentients. When the service commenced yesterday by singing a hymnMr J. W. Miller got on the platform and commenced to read a protest against the introduction of the hymn-book. Ultimately his voice was drowned by that of the minister and the choir, .but he ended by throwing his written protest at the minister, and it fell among the congrega-. tion. Much indignation is said to be felt with regard to Mr Miller's action. A private letter has just been received
here stating that Lyster's Opera Company will not visit New Zealand for six months.,

His suggestion that in the south settlements they had an outlet: in the Bluff, "and the northern settlors in Oamaru and Lyttelton, appeared to give great offence to the deputation, who spoke about Dunedin as being sacrificed on account of her kuown'provincial proclivities, i ■ ' y This day. Much dissatisfaction was expressed yesterday at the manner in which the postal arrangements in connection with the arrival and dispatch of the English and Australian mails are carried out. The inward mails were not delivered till after the box for the outward mails per Arawata had closed. The result was that with few exceptions merchants were unable to reply to letters received by the Eingarooma.
