MOANATAIRI.

The following report was submitted to the directors at the "meeting held at Auckland yesterday morning :—Moanatairi Goldmining Company. — Thames, .May 5, 1877.—The Directors.—Gentlemen,—l have" the honor to report as follows :—BO feet level, S.E. Cross-cut.— The new winze sinking oh the iN'o. 9 reef is down 14 feet; 10 feet has been broken down, and 4 feet is stripped. 1 The reef looks much improved, and is two feet thick. Twenty pounds good specimens have been; broken from . west end of winze, and extending two feet eastward. Gold is now showing in face of reef, also ihinerals giving good indications for gold. The stopes in back of level arc-now ICO feet long, and the reef varies in thickness from" 2 to 5 feet, averaging 2pzs per ton; The winze sunk from tunnel is broken through to east end of stope. This gives good ventilation, also facilities for s toping and filling stopes with mullock. The drive west has been suspended this week, quartz having been accumulated in other parts of mine. This is now cleared away, and driving will be resumed on Monday. Heldt's reef—Driving east from winze has been started. The reef is 1£ feet thick of payable stone with good colors of gold. Wallis' leader shows gold freely, and a few pounds picked stone are occasionally broken. N.W. cross-drive— All Nations leader—ln driving east the drive is split. We are following the right-hand branch, where gold shows freely in : the stone, and it looks promising for still further improvement, being in a very good class of country. No. .1 reef— The drive east has intersected main slide,, and driving east is now suspended. The last hundred feet has been low grade stuff. The stopes west from winze have improved, and now averages 15dwts, per ton. The engine shaft is down 65 feet under the 13 feet level', and good progress is being made. A leader six inches thick is now dipping into shaft striking north and south, and promising-looking stone is being broken. There: is now on hand 735 ounces amalgam from past six days' crushing.
