Fears are entertained for the safety of the Schooner Ebsanna Eose, which put out to sea with the rest of the fle<jt some days, since. All the other vessels have returned/ The captain was on shore, and the mate in charge of the schooner.
Great preparations are making for the annual gathering of the South Canterbury Athletic Club next week. There will be two days' sports, a ball and dinner, and three days' hunting with the Hunt-Club hounds. There will be a steeplechase at Waimate; people from all parts of the island are expected.
