Georgia Minstrels.
To-night the original Georgia Minstrels are to make their bo;v to the Thame3 public at the Theatre Boya 7. We need do little mo:e than call attention to this fact, for the reputation of these real negro minstrels has preceded them. As we gather from notices in the Auckland press, and from conversation with visitors to Auckland .who have, had opportunities of se )infc the performances of the Geoigias, the entertainment differs very materially from those, with which everyone is more or less familiar by .frequent attendance at the performances of ordinary minstrels, from the Christys downwards. The programme of the Georgia Minstrels is said to be the nearest approach iriown to what it professes to be, namely the representation of negro music and-charac-ter. They do not make a feature of choice operatic music or popular ballad singingl, but their nigger melodies are said to be the genuine article, while their dancing and negro farces are of the most amusing character. Not having seen the Georgia Minstrels we cannot speak from personal knowledge, but from the reputation of the troupe and the success which has attended them in their travels, we look forward to an entertainment novel and amusing.
