Khamatchroun Pacha, with several ironclads, engaged the Eussian batteries at Brahilow. They bombarded the town and then withdrew.
Mr Gladstone is to -move that the Government continue their exertions on behalf of Christian subjects in Turkey, and exact changes from.the, Porte. The Liberal leaders disapprove) and will move the previous question. The Conservatives submit a motion supporting the Government policy.

Sir Stafford JSorthcote, replying to a question, said vras "unprepared to. consent to the exclusion of;war vessels from the Suez Canal, but would take steps to protect the Canal. :! ' ;
